ACID ROCK DRAINAGE
Laboratory Investigations

SENES has designed experimental programs for determining the potential for ARD production (i.e., static and kinetic testing), evaluating ARD mitigation options, estimating leachable metal contents and determining lime demand to neutralize acidity stored in tailings. We have also developed statistical analysis methodologies for analyzing large amounts of analytical data and incorporating the results into our assessments. Our work has included the review of laboratory and field protocols for the Wismut uranium mine decommissioning work in the former East Germany, which at the time was the largest effort of its kind.
