The costs and applicability of air
emission abatement technologies are vital in the development of reduction
strategies. These have ranged from investigating technologies, to controlling a
single source, to covering all industries in a province. The generic devices
available for particulate control are gravity settlers, cyclones, electrostatic
precipitators, wet scrubbers and baghouses. Gaseous control equipment includes
combustion, adsorption, absorption and condensation. Knowledge of the estimated
costs allows a facility to plan its financial future or a government agency to
plan future control policy options.
