A proposed or existing facility may result in air emissions that have an environmental impact on the area surrounding the site; conversely, nearby air emission sources may have an impact on the site. Impacts can vary from soiling of surfaces, through vegetation damage, to human health being compromised. The scope has varied from an assessment of impacts from neighbouring industries on proposed residential developments to full environmental evaluations of major industrial facilities.
