The professional recognition of SENES is
reflected in the company's emergence as the "expert's expert". When there is an
environmental emergency or when a second opinion is required, SENES is
frequently asked to be on hand. Recent examples include the cyanide spill near
the Kumtor gold mine in Kyrgyztan, the tailings dam break at the base metals
mine in Apirsa, Spain, and an arsenic spill into the Esquibo River in
Guyana.
SENES staff are recognized as leaders in the domestic
and international environmental community. The work of SENES staff has
led to their individual participation with many domestic and international
agencies. Examples include Canadian Standards Association (CSA),
United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation
(UNSCEAR), Advisory Committee on Radiological Protection (ACRP),
Canadian Nuclear Safety Commision (formerly the Atomic Energy Control
Board), U.S. National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements
(NCRP), International Joint Commission (IJC), International Air Quality
Advisory Board, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
